This policy describes how ShiaDaily (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) handles information when you use our iOS app and related Apple Watch features.
ShiaDaily is built to support Islamic calendar information, prayer times, reading and listening to religious content, and related tools. We do not require you to create an account in the app. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app as shipped. Some features use the internet to load audio; optional features use your device location for prayer times and Qibla; optional iCloud sync stores your preferences and progress with Apple.
If you allow it, the app uses your device’s location (or coordinates you save) to calculate prayer times and show Qibla direction. Location is processed on your device for these features. We do not operate our own servers that receive or store your location.
When you stream or download certain audio, the app connects to servers over the internet to retrieve files. For example, some Islamic audio may be delivered from infrastructure we use (e.g. Cloudflare R2), and optional Quran recitation streams may be loaded from third-party hosts such as EveryAyah (everyayah.com). Those servers may receive standard technical data involved in a web request (such as IP address, user agent, and requested file), as with any HTTPS connection. We do not control the privacy practices of independent third-party audio hosts; you can avoid optional streaming sources by using offline or bundled content where available.
The app stores preferences and activity you generate in the app—such as display settings, favorites, bookmarks, completion or progress for spiritual programs, custom occasions, prayer-related adjustments you configure, and similar app data—using on-device storage. If you use iCloud, this information may sync across your devices using Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Storage, which is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your Apple ID settings. We cannot access the contents of your iCloud data.
If you use the Apple Watch companion features, limited data may be transferred between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple’s system services (for example, WatchConnectivity) to support complications and synced information. That transfer happens between your own devices through Apple’s platform.
Apple may process information related to app installation, updates, crash diagnostics, and optional App Store features (such as ratings prompts) according to Apple’s policies. ShiaDaily may use standard iOS APIs (for example, StoreKit) to request an App Store review; that flow is handled by Apple.
We use the information described above to operate app features you choose to use, keep your settings and progress, deliver audio when you request playback, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use automated cross-app tracking for advertising in the app.
Depending on your region, processing may be based on your consent (for example, location permission), performance of a contract with you (providing the app), or our legitimate interests in operating and securing the app, consistent with applicable law.
On-device data remains until you delete the app or clear app data. iCloud-synced data remains according to your Apple account and device settings. Server operators involved in delivering audio may retain standard logs under their own retention practices.
We rely on Apple’s platform security for on-device storage and iCloud sync. Network requests use industry-standard transport security (HTTPS) where supported by the servers involved.
The app is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that requires parental consent under applicable laws. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us and we will help you address it.
If you use the app outside your home country, information may be processed on your device and, if you use iCloud or internet audio, by Apple or network operators in accordance with their policies and applicable law.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
